Funeral services for Walter (Buddy) Thompson, 72 of Montgomery, TX, will be held Thursday, February 7, 2002, at 10:00 a.m. in Cashner Colonial Chapel with Dr. Maurice Dodson officiating. Interment will be in San Felipe De Austin Cemetery at 3:00 p.m. with Cashner Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Visitation will be Wednesday, February 6, 2002, from 5:00 until 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Thompson was born December 20, 1929 in Houston, TX and passed away February 4, 2002 in Huntsville, TX. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Marine Corp. He was a 32nd degree mason and a member of the Masons for 44 years. He also was a member of the Sons of the Republic of Texas. Mr. Thompson served as past president of Piney Woods Fox and Wolf Hunters Association, past honor guard member of American Legion Post #618, past president of Handicap HAM Radio Net, and past president of Montgomery County Shrine Club.

Survivors include his wife of the past 11 years, Edith Thompson; children, Tommy Thompson, Willie Thompson, Dan Thompson, and Linda Harrison; step-children, Mike Barker, Jimbo Barker, Terry Barker, Jay Cunningham, Lisa DeHay, Kara Douglas, and Tara Hightower; brother and sister-in-law, Jimmy and JoAnn Thompson; fifteen grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
