Obituary
2024
Edith Pavlicek Mlcak passed away on April 12, 2024, at the age of eighty-five. She was born in Frydek, Texas, to Steve and Annie Lezak Pavlicek.

Edith grew up on a farm where she picked corn and cotton, milked cows and butchered hogs. She attended Frydek Catholic School and was involved with the Catholic Youth Organization. Later Edith attended Sealy High School, where she met the love of her life, Dennis Mlcak. She graduated from Sealy High School in 1957 and attended business school in Houston. Edith and Dennis were married on November 9, 1958, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Frydek. They moved to Houston where their three daughters were born. When the girls were older, Edith went back to work for the local school district. In her spare time, she enjoyed sewing, gardening, baking and playing tennis. After they moved back to Frydek in 1995, Edith was an active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and an officer and member in the KJZT and Altar Society.

Edith is survived by her Daughters Deanna Arnold (Robert), Roxane Spence (Kenneth), and Audrey Rossi (Michael). Grandsons Preston Arnold (Kristin), Pierce Arnold, Nicholas Rossi (Mia), and Nathan Rossi. Great-granddaughter Clara Arnold. Step-grandsons Michael Spence (Tamra), Steven Spence (Alicia), and Brian Spence (Dawn).

She will also be dearly missed by her brother Monsignor Louis Pavlicek and sisters Mildred Ondruch (Bennie) and Irene Blahuta (Glen) and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Edith is preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Dennis, and by her parents, Steve and Annie Lezak Pavlicek and stepmother Annie Vitek Pavlicek.

The family is grateful for all the friends and family who helped Edith and Dennis in recent years, especially Edith’s sister, Mildred. In addition, the family wishes to express their deepest gratitude for the love, support, and kindness shown during this time of great loss. While it is difficult to lose both Edith and Dennis so close together, it gives us great comfort that they are together and in the presence of our Lord.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests gifts be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Frydek.
