Eleanor died April 6, 2017 at Timberidge Nursing Home and Rehabilitation in Jasper. A longtime Jasper resident she was the daughter of Ernst and Hertha Hoffmann and was born on February 16, 1926. Eleanor was baptized August 15, 1926 and confirmed, March 17, 1940 at St. John’s Lutheran Church. A 1943 Bellville graduate, she attended business school in Houston and was employed with American National Insurance and then with United Gas Corporation.
Eleanor Hoffmann married Harry Ueckert on October 10, 1946 at the Riverside Methodist Church. They continued to live in Houston until 1953, when they moved to East Bernard. In 1965 Harry was transferred to Jasper where they remained. In 1968 Eleanor started working at The Jasper County Tax Office where she remained until her retirement in 1990. Eleanor and Harry enjoyed bus tours and were faithful members of the First United Methodist Church of Jasper. She also enjoyed watching all of her grandchildren participate in various sporting events. Eleanor was preceded in death by her husband of over 63 years Harry Ueckert, parents, a brother and her sister-in-law. Services are under the direction of Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home of Jasper.
