Beatrice Frances Ripple Barler died on July 1, 2013 in Tucson, Ariz.

She was born on Feb. 17, 1918, in Bellville, the daughter of Henry Adolph and Hermina Marie Ripple. She graduated from Bellville High School. She went on to receive a BBA from the University of Texas at Austin in 1939 and a Masters of Education from Prairie View A&M University of Texas in 1974.

She married Francis Marion Barler on Oc. 12, 1940, in Coldspring. They were married for 27 years.

She spent 16 of the post-World War II years in San Francisco raising a family before moving back to Texas. Later she taught 10 years, mainly in Richmond.

After she retired she moved back to Bellville. In 1997 she moved to Tucson to be closer to her eldest daughter.

She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and the Daughters of the King. She was an avid researcher, well known for her investigations and publications dealing with the nineteenth-century Czech migrations to Texas and the descendants of the earliest Czech-Texans.

She is survived by her three daughters, Dorothy Montgomery (Earl) of Tucson, Helen Ann Barler (Paul Flesher) of Everett, Wash., and Bette Barler (Gary La Belle) of Fort Worth. She also has a grandson, Jeremy La Belle of Fort Worth.

Funeral services were held at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in Bellville at 10:30 a.m., Friday, July 19, 2013 with interment immediately afterward at Oak Knoll Cemetery with her parents.
