Melvin Roy Baranowski, 73, passed away Friday, April 11, 2014, at his home in Bellville.

He was born on Oct. 24, 1940, in Houston, the son of Theodore and Irene Gladys (Taylor) Baranowski. He grew up and attended school in Bellville. After graduating from Bellville High School, he attended Blinn Jr. College and San Jacinto College.

Melvin was united in marriage to Patricia Cales, on Sept. 16, 1963, in Jacksonville, Fla. He served his country in the United States Navy Reserves and was honorably discharged in 1965. Melvin was employed with Alcatel Lucint as a telephone repairman retiring after 35 years of service. He enjoyed fishing and hunting, farming, and was a avid video poker player. He also enjoyed working in his winery.

Melvin is survived by his loving wife of over 50 years Patricia Baranowski of Bellville; daughter and son-in-law Anna and Rene Giesberts of Woodridge, Va. and grandson Toine Giesberts of Woodbridge, Va. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, David Baranowski.

Visitation, 6-8 p.m., Monday, April 14, 2014, Schmidt Funeral Home Bellville.

Funeral home, 10 a.m., Tuesday, April 15, 2014, Schmidt Funeral Home Chapel, Pastor Kevin Haug, officiating.

Interment, Oak Knoll Cemetery.

Pallbearers: Charles Fitt, Bobby Baker, Ed Baranowski, David Baranowski, Bruce Mikeska Gus Baker.
