Leschper, Walter Edward Jr
Obituary
2014
Walter Edward Leschper, Jr. was born August 7, 1935 in Peters, Texas. Walter left this earth to be with the Lord on November 17, 2014. Walter married Judith Faye Wendt on March 3, 1962. Walter attended Peters Hacienda School and then Sealy Schools. Walter was a dairy farmer and rancher his entire life. Walter and Judy also ran the Sealy Bus Station for a number of years. He was a member of the Peters Hacienda Community Hall where he served as a Bar Manager for over 40 years. Some of the best times and memories are from the place he called "The Hall". Walter enjoyed many years of league bowling at the Sealy Bowling Palace. After retiring from the dairy business, Walter enjoyed many trips to the "Hill Country" with his cousin, Herman Meloneck, and wife Chesterlene. They loved playing cards and dominos at Uncle Shorty's. He was a lifetime Aggie at heart and loved the annual excitement of the big $1 bet with Michael ("Hollywood") over the UT and A&M game. Walter had a unique and fun loving personality. He enjoyed giving quirky nicknames to many friends and family members and there was always a great story behind the name. As time went on and his beard turned to white, Walter became known as Santa to many children and acquaintances. He loved to dress the part at Christmas time. For the rest of the year, he could answer any child's question with a story of why he wasn't at the North Pole. The story he used the most was that he was here getting hay for his reindeer.

Walter is survived by his wife, Judith Faye Wendt Leschper; daughter, Angela Leschper and fiancé, Mason Brandes; son, Andrew Leschper and wife, Susan; daughter, Alicia Leschper Farrell and husband, Cecil; grandchildren, Sara Leschper, Cathryn Farrell, Cecil Farrell Jr.; step-grandchildren, Stephen Scott, Christine Gaitan and husband, Shawn; and step-great-grandchildren, Chasidy Scott, Devin Scott, Destiny Scott, Bailey Gaitan, Ashton Gaitan, and Christian Gaitan. He is also survived by his brothers, Wilbert Leschper and wife, Gladys, Kenneth Leschper and his wife, Cleba, and Adolph Leschper and his wife, Edna; and sisters, Marilyn Leschper Prince and husband, Jerry, Doris Leschper Krolczyk and husband, Clem, and Nelda Leschper Tamborello and husband, Tommy.

Walter was preceded in death by his parents, Walter Leschper, Sr. and Mary Ludwig Leschper; his brother, Lee Roy Leschper and his wife, Janie; and his sister, Florence Leschper Frank and her husband, Leon. Walter was loved by many and will be greatly missed by everyone that knew him. His memory will always bring a smile to all.
