Dorothy Rose Madden, 99 of Sealy, passed away on Friday, July 17, 2020 in Sealy. Dorothy was born on January 14, 1921 in Houston, Texas to Ulysses and Elizabeth Killough. She had three sisters, Bea (Jimmy) Bradley, Marie (Weyland) Aldredge, and Betty (Jim) Howard.

During her lifetime she was a member of First United Methodist Church and the Shepherd's Way Church, both in Sealy. She was involved with the Youth Group, a teacher at Vacation Bible School , a member of the Memorial Committee, attended the Women's Socials, and the Quilting Group.

Her civic activities included being a member of the board of the Sealy Medical Foundation, a Girl Scout Leader, and volunteering with Meals on Wheels, Friends of the Library, Coordinator of the Sealy Christian Food Pantry, and the National Parks System Christian Ministry Program.

Dorothy and her late husband, Vernon, owned and operated the Madden Insurance Agency for many years until their retirement in 1974. Vernon was Superintendent of the Sealy schools for approximately forty years.

Dorothy is survived by Vernon, and Carolyn Sue (Corky and Susie) Madden, Frank (Skipper) and Wendi Lucas, Dianne (DeeDee) Hauerland (deceased), Mickey and Mary Helen Madden, Libby and Harry Hoff, and Kathy and Eddie Johnson; 15 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

She was a beloved mother, step-mother, grandmother, a friend to all who knew her, and a born leader. Dorothy was known for her pecan pie, King Ranch casserole, gumbo, and Grandma's spaghetti. She traveled to all fifty states, many of the national parks, and international travel. An especially fond trip was her trip to Ireland.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Shepherd's Way Church at 1225 Eagle Lake Road, Sealy, TX 77474.

The family would like to thank her caregivers and the Brazos Crossing staff for their excellent care.

A graveside service was held on Monday, July 20, at at Sealy Cemetery.
