Hartmann, Corinne (Miller)
Obituary
2016
Corinne Miller Hartmann went home to be with her Lord on Thursday, August 25, 2016, at the age of 89. Corinne was born in Lee County, Texas on April 10, 1927. One of four children, she grew up in the country, steeped in her German heritage, working on the farm.

After meeting and marrying the love of her life, Emil Hartmann, they began their life together in Houston, Texas. They were married for nearly 34 years and raised their two sons, Tommie and Ronald, in the home that Emil built for them. Corinne and Emil were known for hosting various celebrations for family and friends. Corinne was always cooking, whether it was at the cafeteria where she worked, in her kitchen at home, or at her other kitchen in Sealy, Texas. She never disappointed with her German noodles, butter chews, or chicken fried steak. The perfect day for Corinne was spent fishing with family, enjoying a picnic basket full of her fried chicken, sipping a cold beer, and planning when she would cook the catch.

She spent countless hours with Emil on the dance floor, playing dominos with friends, and playing games with her grandchildren at the kitchen table. At Trinity Lutheran Church, where she became a communicant member on November 8, 1948, she attended Sunday school, organized the pew cards, fluffed the plastic bunny baskets to sell, and provided dozens of cookies or casseroles upon request. She and Emil reserved Sunday for the Lord. Corinne, affectionately referred to as Mother Dear, Momma, Granny, and Aunt Corinne will be missed.

The family would like to thank Dorothy Middleton and Alba Williams who enabled Corinne to stay in her home as long as possible. More recently, the family is grateful for all the care provided to Corinne by employees of Windsor Houston and Grace Hospice. The Hartmann family wishes to express their deep gratitude to Pastors Donald Black and David Leeland of Trinity Lutheran Church in Houston who faithfully visited Corinne.

Corinne is preceded in death by her husband, Emil Hartmann; brothers, Richard and Robert Miller; sister, Eleanor Nowotnik; parents, Carl and Laura Miller; daughter-in-law, Ilene Hartmann; and grandchildren, Angela, Amanda, Roxanne, and Albert Hartmann.

She is survived by her son, Tommie and wife, Margie Hartmann; son, Ronald and wife, Susie Hartmann; grandchildren, Ronnie and wife, Jennifer Hartmann, Caroline and husband, Miguel Garcia, and Madeline and husband, James Vaughn. Her great-grandchildren are Knox and Paisley Hartmann, and Oliver Garcia. Corinne also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, step-grandchildren, and step-great-grandchildren.

Memorial donations may be made to the Trinity Lutheran Church Organ Fund at 800 Houston Avenue, Houston, Texas, 77007 (www.trinitydt.org , go to Give then Online Giving), or to a charity of your choice.

Services are at Trinity Lutheran Church in Houston on Wednesday August 31, 2016 with visitation at 10:00, followed by the funeral service at 11:00. The burial will take place at Sealy Cemetery (768 4th Street, Sealy, Texas, 77474) following the funeral at 2:30.
