Edwin A. Kuehn, 83, of Industry, Texas, passed away on Thursday, December 3, 2015 at the Brenham Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.

Edwin was born in Welcome, Texas on October 17, 1932, the son of Edwin G. Kuehn and Elsie (Platte) Kuehn. He married Delores Krinke on November 16, 1958 at the Welcome Lutheran Church.

Edwin served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was stationed in Germany. He retired in September, 1993 from the Texas Department of Highways and Transportation so he could spend more time doing charitable work, farming and socializing. Edwin enjoyed meeting people and drinking coffee with his buddies at Lindemann Store and P&M Quick Stop, solving all the world’s problems.

Edwin belonged to virtually every organization in the community. When it came to volunteer work you could always count on him to be there to lend a helping hand. Whenever there was an idea being discussed that would benefit the community, he would be a part of it from the ground up.

Edwin was a charter member of the Industry West End Lions Club and had perfect attendance for 45 years. He was involved in bringing the ambulance service to the West End of Austin County and was an Emergency Care Attendant for many years. He served on the committee that organized the development of Industry Incorporation and the development of the Sanitary Sewer System for Industry. Edwin was instrumental in organizing to bring Meals on Wheels to the West End of Austin County where he served on the County Board of Directors. He was a dedicated volunteer and supporter of the West End Christian Community Organization (WECCO). His other memberships included the Industry Volunteer Fire Dept., Shelby American Legion, Veteran of Foreign Wars (VFW), Past Commander of the Disabled American Veterans (DAV), Shelby Sons of Hermann Lodge, SPJST, Industry Historical Society and Antique Tractor Association.

Edwin was a member of the Welcome Lutheran Church where he served on various committees over the years including Church Council. He did missionary work for one of the local churches in remote areas of Honduras.

He was also involved in numerous activities which included Little League and the Boy Scouts.

He is survived by his wife, Delores; two daughters: Cynthia Kuehn and Lori Krchnak and husband, Joey; son, Alan Kuehn, all of Industry, Texas; and one step grandson, Walter Krchnak.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 5, 2015 from 10:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Koenig & Strickland Zaskoda Chapel, 2280 Main St., Industry, Texas.

Funeral Services will be held at Welcome Lutheran Church, 13636 FM 109, Brenham, Texas, at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, December 6, 2015. Burial will follow at the Welcome Lutheran Cemetery.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Koenig & Strickland Funeral Home, 208 W. Pearl, La Grange, Texas.
