H.E. (Bubba) Krampitz passed away peacefully at his home on July 3, 2022. He was born on October 21, 1925 in Sealy, Texas to the late William R. Krampitz and Myrtle A. Krampitz.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Louise; mother and father; son, Douglas Krampitz; and brother, Clarence Krampitz. He is survived by his three children, David Krampitz and wife, Sandy, Debra Kutinac, Kevin Krampitz and wife, Kay; grandchildren, Phillip Krampitz and wife, Jennifer; Bill Krampitz, Mark Krampitz and wife, Mary Beth, Andy Krampitz and wife, Erin, Amy, Lauren Kutinac, Chandler, and Colton Ehrman. He is also survived by thirteen great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Bubba enlisted in the U.S. Navy his junior year in high school on December 7th, 1942 in Houston, Texas. He went to boot camp in San Diego, California. On March 19th, 1943, he left San Francisco on the U.S.S. Blume Fontaine a Dutch cargo ship converted to troop carrier support, whose home port was Amsterdam, Holland. The ship left for Holland in 1949 but never returned due to the Nazi invasion. After a three-day stop in Hawaii to pick up supplies, they set sail to the South Pacific: Fiji, New Hebrides, Solomon Islands, and New Guinea. He was a photographer's mate with the Fleet Airbase Union. They developed reconnaissance photographs used in planning the invasion of the Guadalcanal and the other Japanese Islands. Returning to Sealy in 1947 after the war, Bubba joined his father, Bill, in the family business, Bills Grocery, located at 122 Main in downtown Sealy. Bubba was active in the Sealy community his entire life. He was one of the original group of men who organized the Little League Baseball Program in Sealy. He was active in the Stephen F. Austin Golf Association and was one of the founding members. He served on the Sealy School Board and was on the board of directors of the Citizens State Bank. He was an active member of the Sealy Church of Christ. Two of his favorite pastimes were playing golf and working at the family farm in Waller County shredding on his tractor. Bubba was very proud of his family, from his children to his great-grandchildren. He was always encouraging them to do their best. He will be remembered by many in the community as very kind, soft-spoken, and caring. Many will remember him as a mentor and a role model. Visitation is scheduled for Thursday, July 7, 2022, from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM at Trinity Lutheran Church, 402 Atchison St., Sealy, TX 77474, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 PM.
