Edmund Doyle “Dusty” Turner, 88, of Brookshire, passed away on April 14, 2014, in Houston.

Dusty was born Dec. 16, 1925, in Humble, the son of Skeet and Letha Chambless Turner. His early childhood years were spent in Sugar Land before the family moved to Raccoon Bend in Austin County. A graduate of Bellville High School, Dusty attended Texas A&M University until the beginning of World War II when he enlisted in the U.S. Navy.

After his honorable discharge, he returned to Texas A&M to finish his degree and was in the first class to graduate with a degree in aeronautical engineering.

On Sept. 7, 1947, Dusty married Constance “Connie” Cooper at the First United Methodist Church in Brookshire. They made their home in Pattison where they raised their six children.

Dusty was a process engineer in the oil and gas business and had worked for Delta Engineering, Austin Rankin, Fish and OPD before his retirement.

He was a dedicated member of the First United Methodist Church of Brookshire for over 60 years. He served on the Royal ISD Board for 33 years and was active in the Brookshire-Pattison Lions Club receiving the Melvin Jones Award, and the Boy Scouts of America. An avid outdoorsman, Dusty enjoyed hunting and fishing.

He is survived by his WIFE OF 66 years Constance Turner; and his children and their spouses Bruce and Lynn Turner, Jill and Dr. John Rogers, Barry and Jo Dee Turner, Paul and Deborah Turner, Sally and Tom Hakemack, Kent and Connie Turner. Dusty is also survived by grandchildren and spouses Sharon Turner and Gary Rushworth, Becky and Clayton Payne, Shelley and Paul Boozer, Dr. Kristen Rogers, Ashley and Matt Toler, Jaydee Turner, Travis Hakemack, Anna and Aaron Vance, David “D.J.” Turner and Brian Turner; great grandchildren Cooper Owen, Ashlyn Rushworth, Riley Boozer, Thatcher Payne, Luke Payne, Adam Vance, Austin Vance, Ace Vance and Tate Hakemack.

Funeral service was held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, April 18, 2014, at the First United Methodist Church in Brookshire with Reverend Dottie Dumas officiating. Burial followed at Pattison Methodist Cemetery.

Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Schmidt Funeral Home in Brookshire.
