Lois Kay Hollis Tottenham was born June 13, 1915 and died peacefully on July 15, 2013 at the age of 98. Born in the East Texas town of Diboll, Lois was the daughter of Rev. James Walter Hollis and Ora Young Hollis. She is predeceased by her beloved husband, Kinion Woodson Tottenham of Brenham, brother Gerald Hollis of Beeville and her sister Letha Hollis Turlington of Austin. She survived by her brother, Truett Hollis of El Paso.

Most of Lois’ life was spent with her husband, Kinion, on their ranch in the Chappell Hill/Brenham area. During these years she was employed by the Texas Highway Department, a job she greatly enjoyed until her retirement. In l975 her husband passed away suddenly and Aunt Kay, as she is affectionately called, left the ranch and moved into the town of Bellville. Here she lived independently for 31 years, managed her own affairs, enjoyed country excursions with friends and collected antiques. At the age of 91 her nieces and nephews urged her to move to Austin to be closer to family. Aunt Kay moved first into the Heritage at Gaines Ranch and then later into the Querencia at Barton Creek, living in independent living, assisted living and then skilled nursing where she was one of the oldest residents at the time of her death and also one of the most interactive ones.

Everyone appreciated her southern gentility, generous spirit, and good mind which she kept to the end of her life. The family is thankful to the kind nurses and staff at the Querencia, where she lived for 5 years, most recently on the 3rd floor where she lived in comfort and contentment.

Aunt Kay will be missed by nephews, Lynn Turlington and wife Jill, David Turlington, Terry Tottenham and wife Sue, niece Pat Tottenham Johnson and husband G. W. (Buddy) of San Antonio and numerous great nieces and nephews who were privileged to have had her in their lives.

Burial will be beside her husband at the Prairie Lea Cemetary, Brenham. with graveside services held at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 19, 2013.

Arrangements by Memorial Oaks Chapel, Brenham. In lieu of flowers, memorials could be made to a charity of choice.
