Death of Edmund Stafford
1918, The Sealy News

At Ellington Airoplane Field near Houston, Texas, on Saturday, February 9, 1918, occurred the death of Private Ed. Stafford of the U. S. Army, after an illness of three weeks. The sickness causing death was pneumonia. The remains were brought to his former home at Bellville for interment, the funeral occurring from the Baptist Church in that city Monday, February 11. It was largely attended by all the civilians of the place who were eager to show their love and respect for one of the boys who has given up his all for the cause of Liberty. Flowers from Red Cross Ladies Aid and other societies were in profusion and were banked high over his last resting place. Deceased was reared near Sealy and had many friends, several of whom attended the funeral; noted were members of the Stokeld family, the Anderson and Johnson family and Mrs. A. Seldene, from Austin were an aunt and uncle and from Galveston were a sister and brother-in-law.
