The funeral service for Mr. Dustin (Duck) Smith was held on Saturday, Nov. 2, 2013 at the 850 Schumann Road, Bellville High School Auditorium, Bellville, Texas. Reverend Roy Green, Jr. was officiating and the eulogy was conducted by Reverend Herbert Shelby of Round Top, Texas.

A precious baby boy was born on Sept. 27, 1994 to Hazel Smith and Earl Bailey. He was given the name Dustin Donovan Smith. He was affectingly known as “Duck.” “Duck” graduated from Bellville High School in Bellville.

Dustin confessed his hope in Christ while attending a youth summer camp in Oklahoma with the West End Baptist Church youth under the leadership of Pastor Dennis Keen. Dustin may have been 19 years young, but he lived a full life in the few years that the Lord allowed him to be here with us.

“Duck” enjoyed being with family and friends. He had a great love for his family, his dog Cush, hogs and horses. He loved to hunt and fish and eating wild game. He enjoyed cooking. “Duck” was famous for baking his Thanksgiving and Christmas duck dinners, along with apple pies and peach cobblers.

“Duck” never met a stranger and always had a big smile which was his trademark. You would always know when “Duck” was around, because he had a really loud voice. He was also a jokester and loved to pull pranks. “Duck” would on a daily basis hug you and tell you that he loved you. He was vibrant, lovable, happy, intelligent, young man, unique and full of life. He loved his nieces and nephews.

Dustin was a “Mama’s Boy.” Dustin and his mom, Hazel spoiled each other. There was nothing to big or small for his mom to do for her baby. He had a great love for his mom; he was her son, her boss, her cook and even her banker.

Dustin is preceded in death by his grandparents, Earl Bailey Sr., and Eddie Cleo Gonzales; grandparents, Woodie and Nora Williams, Freddie and Mary Sparks, three uncles, Adrian Johnson, Baldwin and Joseph Bailey.
