Funeral services for Mr. Arno Pfeffer, 92, of Bellville, formerly of Hempstead, were held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 23 from the Knesek Bros./Etlinger Funeral Chapel in Bellville with Rev. Donald H. Little officiating. Interment was in Oak Knoll Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Leroy Peters, Robert Schultz, B. Y. Lynn, Mike Iselt, David Pfeffer, and Mark Pfeffer. Honorary pallbearers were George Allen, Edward Marchman, Elmo Iselt, and Louis Vacek.

Mr. Pfeffer died at 4:35 p.m. on Friday Feb. 21, 1992 in a local nursing facility.

He was born Dec. 21, 1899 in Kenney to parents Charles Fritz Pfeffer and Johanna (Dahse) Pfeffer. He was raised and attended school in Kenney.

On April 8, 1926 he was married to Miss Emmie Wernli at his home in Kenney. They resided in the Kenney area until 1948, when they moved to Hempstead, where they resided until 1991.

Mr. Pfeffer worked in the maintenance department of the Texas State Highway Department for 25 years.

He was a charter member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Hempstead, where he was very active in church work. On Nov. 10, 1991, he was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Mrs. Emmie Wernli Pfeffer.

Survivors include: son, Eugene W. Pfeffer and wife Fay of Bellville; sisters Clara Wiktorik of Bellville and Martha Dahse of Kenney; brothers, Jake Pfeffer of Bellville, John Pfeffer and wife Frances , also of Bellville, and Phillip Pfeffer of Kenney; grandchildren, Mark A. Pfeffer and wife Wendy of Houston and David W. Pfeffer and wife Pearl of Bellville; great grandchildren, Justin and Dustin Pfeffer, Steven and Cassie Baker and Tiffany and Megan Pfeffer; sisters-in-law, Rosie Pfeffer and Manilla Pfeffer; a number of nieces and nephews and a host of friends

He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, son, Demos Pfeffer, Brothers, Walter, Eddie, Charlie and Oscar Pfeiffer, and a sister, Ella Schaare.

Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church in Hempstead.
