On January 13, 2023, Alphonse Mlcak passed away peacefully at the age of 96 at Colonial Living and Rehabilitation in Sealy, Texas.

Born on April 10, 1926, in Frydek, Texas, to Louis and Mary Mlcak, Alphonse grew up in the Frydek community. He attended the Frydek Catholic School and later Sealy High School. In 1951 Alphonse married his wife, Irene Peters, from Sealy. Alphonse and Irene raised their five children in Sealy, and he was a devoted father. Alphonse worked as a carpenter for many years in the Katy and Brookshire area before starting his own construction company in Sealy – Mlcak Construction. Alphonse was an active member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Sealy, Texas, where he was an usher for many years.

He was a gifted carpenter with an exceptional talent for building cabinetry. Alphonse thoroughly enjoyed fishing in the Brazos River and barbequing in the backyard. Alphonse and Irene would spend Saturday nights attending local dances. You could always find Alphonse at his farm tending to the garden and working cattle. After retiring, Alphonse enjoyed putting together puzzles and playing cards. Alphonse always enjoyed family gatherings with all his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 70 years, Irene Mlcak, his parents, Louis and Mary Mlcak, and his sister and brother-in-law, Wilhelmina and Alois Jez.

Alphonse is survived by his children Donna Brown, husband Kenny of Sealy, Suzanne Whitzel, husband Jeff of Sealy, Becky Jones, husband David of Belton, Steven Mlcak, wife Brandee of Sealy, and Chris Mlcak, wife Carrie of Bleiblerville. He is also survived by his grandchildren Laurie Wehring, John Brown, wife Kristin, Erin Bowles, husband Taylor, Emily McLean, husband Drew, Mark Brown, wife Jessica, Tim Brown, Kayla Saucedo, husband Chris, Briley Cotton, husband Ashton, Ryan Jones, wife Josie, Jacob Mlcak, Sarah Jones, Leah Mlcak, and Mackenzie Mlcak, as well as 16 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers are John Brown, Mark Brown, Tim Brown, Ryan Jones, Jacob Mlcak, Taylor Bowles, Drew McLean, Chris Saucedo, and Ashton Cotton.

His family would like to extend a special thanks to Colonial Living and Rehabilitation in Sealy and Acara Hospice.
