Esther Tiemann Mikeska left us and has gone to a better place. She died under hospice care in Houston on Thursday May 9, 2013 at the age of 90 after months of declining health. Graveside services were held Monday, May 13, 2013 at 2 p.m. at the National Cemetery in Nelsonville with Michael Groseclose officiating. Esther was the sixth child born to Annie and Willie Tiemann on Oct. 7, 1922 in Austin County where she was baptized, confirmed, and educated. She was married to Edwin Mikeska for 49 years before he passed away and was predeceased by all her siblings as well: August Tiemann, Adolph Tiemann, Lester Tiemann , Edgar Tiemann and Lillie Tiemann Ahrens. Esther is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Roland Adamson of Richmond, one granddaughter and her husband, Stacy and Paxton Lamons of Mountain Brook, Ala. and one grandson and his wife, Roger and Jennie Adamson of Sugarland, and three great grandchildren, Valentina Lamons, Avery Adamson, and Austin Adamson. Being visited by grandchildren and great grandchildren was one of the great delights of Nana’s life. A memorial service will be held at the Nelsonville Brethren Church on Thursday May 23, 2013 at 2 p.m. with Michael Groseclose officiating. Honorary pallbearers are Aunt Baby’s nephews: Virgil Tiemann, Donald Ahrens, Bill Tiemann and Jerry Tiemann. During Mother’s final months, she truly appreciated the many cards, letters, visits, gifts, and phone calls from friends, nieces and nephews, her pastor, and the Christian Sisters. And to the very capable caregivers at Colonial Oaks, Skilled Nursing at Oak Bend, and Solari Hospice, a sincere thank you for your expertise, patience, and comfort.
