Betty Jane McAlister, 88, passed away at her home in Bryan, Texas, on Wednesday, December 28, 2022.

Betty was born January 14, 1934, in Mountain Home, Arkansas, to Robert and Agnes (Hammonds) Trivitt. She grew up in Arkansas. Betty and one of her sisters, Ann, moved to Durant, Oklahoma, where she met and later married the love of her life, Max McAlister, Sr, on December 4, 1952. Settling in Texas, making their homes in Redwater, and Bellville, but she spent the last 12 years of her life living with her daughter in Bryan. A homemaker, Betty spent her life supporting Coach Mac, her children, and grandchildren. She treasured every moment she spent with her family. Betty enjoyed reading, making ceramics, painting, sewing, and quilting.

The best mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great great grandmother, and aunt any of her family could ask for. She is loved and already missed by her family and so many others. Betty’s presence made this world a better place.

She is survived by her daughter: Mary Jane Gray of Bryan; granddaughter: Catrina Hopper and husband, Sam; grandsons: Shane McAlister and Joshua Gray and wife, Skylar; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins; many friends; and her special Pekingese, Chloe, and Shih Tzu, GiGi.

Betty was preceded in death by her loving husband: Max McAlister, Sr.; parents: Robert & Agnes Trivitt; baby McAlister; son: Spencer M.L. McAlister; brothers and sisters: Theodore, Ennis, Willie, Dorothy Ann, Floyd, Leo, Joe Bill, and Junior Trivitt; and numerous nieces, and nephews.
