He was robbed and murdered after he took a wagon of grain to Hempstead, TX to sell. He died Feb 26, 1868 Hempstead, Austin, Texas, United States. he may have died right then and there or was bedridden for a couple of months after being shot before passing away. Not sure which is correct.
