Harry L. Kopech was born in a farmhouse in Monavill on Sept. 28, 1944, number 8 of 10 children, to sharecroppers Raymond and Rosie Kopech.

He moved to Houston with his family and entered the workforce at a young age, pursuing the craft of a machinist after trying a few different things. Harry was always a hard worker, working long hours to provide for his family. He worked as a machinist for over 45 years, becoming a true craftsman. He worked for several different companies, but spent much of his career with Power Machinery, Inc. of Houston, Texas. In later years, he had his own machine shop, Kopech Machine, working for himself, and then later for ATI of Industry, Texas, from which he retired in 2009. After retirement, he went back to working for himself full time at Kopech Machine until his death.

Harry married Teresa Brumek of Houston, on June 20, 1964, at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church and they settled in Houston, Texas. They had 5 children, Kenneth, Angela, Brenda, Patricia and Christopher.

After living in Waller, for several years, they moved to Bellville, for several years, finally settling in Oak Hill, between Bellville and Industry.

Harry was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Industry. He had a generous nature, always quick to help others, such as volunteering for Meals on Wheels. He enjoyed fishing and hunting and playing games with family, such as dominoes, cards, horseshoes, and many others.
