Don Edward Kesee was born on Jan. 29, 1943 to Ossie and Lionel Kesee. He had a gift for playing the guitar and he shared his gift with the world. Don started playing around age 9 and perfected his craft as a lead guitar player and singer.

Don Kesee and the Soul Masters was the way he was introduced before he wowed the crowd with his unique musical antics such as playing the guitar with his teeth or behind his back and then bellowing out a blues hit that made you dance in your seat.

Don was a kind individual that met you with a big smile and a tall tale or two. He could hold the attention of any crowd with his stories and have every one laughing within minutes. He loved good food and knew his way around a kitchen.

Besides playing the blues, Don completed the course at the Law Enforcement Academy at Texas A&M University in Bryan/College Stationin. After graduation he worked with the Prairie View Police Department and later retired from Bellville Tools.

He spent his retirement years doing what he loved…Playing the blues. He could be found at Shakespeare’s Pub on Memorial Drive in Houston and various other clubs, cafes, and juke joints from Sealy, to Brookshire, Bellville, Brenham, Chappell Hill, Navasota and so on, playing his guitar, singing and entertaining the crowd.

Don was preceded in death by his mother, Ossie Phillips; father, Lionel Kesee; son, Don E Prince; grandchild, Derrick Barnes; and great-grandchild Cierran Prince.
