Harold Lee Holmes Jr., 86, of Bellville passed away Tuesday, March 24, 2015, in Houston.

He was born Dec. 23, 1928, in Columbus, the son of Harold Lee, Sr. and Juanita Kearney Holmes.

Harold grew up in Columbus, before moving to the Fort Worth area. He enlisted in the Unites States Marine Corp, before transferring to the United States Air Force. Harold graduated from Texas A&M University, with a degree in Engineering. He was employed with Sinclair/Arco, where he held multiple positions, utilizing his engineering skills.

Harold was united in marriage to Doris Kneisly on July 19, 1997, in Bellville. He was a member of the First Baptist Church. Harold loved serving his community by delivering meals to shut-ins, was a member of the Lions Club, a Shriner, Hospice organization volunteer and a loyal supporter of the Wounded Warriors. He also was a member of the Bellville Masonic Lodge #223 AF&AM and Odessa Masonic Lodge #955 AF&AM.

Harold is survived by his loving wife of over 17 years: Doris Holmes of Bellville; son Duane Holmes and his wife, Sherrie, of Odessa; step-daughters Donna Moran and her husband, Daniel, of Bryan and Rhonda Hepner and her husband, Michael, of Tomball; sister Betty Jo Buse of Odessa; grandchildren Elizabeth Holmes and Brandon Holmes, both of Odessa; step-grandchildren Daniel Moran, II and his wife, Stephanie, of O’Fallon, Missouri and Dylan Moran of Bryan; great grandchildren Stephanie Veigel of Arlington, Katalina Villa of Odessa and Austin Veigel of Arlington; and step-great granddaughter Ella Moran of O’Fallon, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, Barbara, and sister, Verna Jean.

Funeral service will be held at 3 p.m., Sunday, March 29, 2015, First Baptist Church, Bellville. Pallbearers are Brandon Holmes, Daniel Moran, Dylan Moran, Michael Hepner, John Conley, II, and John J. Conley. Graveside Service will be held at 3 p.m., Monday, March 30, 2015, Sunset Memorial Gardens, Odessa, Texas.
