Santa Fe - Mrs. Verna Belle Hinze passed from this life Sunday, May 21, 2006, in Texas City.

Born May 28, 1916, in Bellville, Texas, Mrs. Hinze had been a resident of Santa Fe for 25 years, previously of Galveston. She had been a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and was an excellent seamstress who loved to sew, had received numerous awards at the Galveston County Fair for her quilting and canned pickles, enjoyed working in her garden, cooking, and was a member of Ladies Auxiliary to the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen.

She was preceded in death by beloved husband, Harry August Hinze; parents, Edmond and Olga (Graf) Frank; brother, Ralph Frank; sister, Viola Hoak. Survivors include her children, Gilbert Ray Hinze and wife, Mary Ellen of Batson, Texas, Lois Ann Orsak and husband, James Clifton of Freeport, Florida, Larry Wayne Hinze and wife, Sandy of Santa Fe; grandchildren, Terry Moore, Lisa Theiler, Michelle Lawless, Mitchell Hinze, Daryn Hinze, Carol Ann Walker, Stephen James Orsak; seven great grandchildren; sister Lorine Luedeck of Tomball.

Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 24, 2006, in the chapel of Hayes Funeral Home with Pastor Beverly Collinsworth officiating. Interment will follow at Grace Memorial Park Cemetery.

Casketbearers will be Daryn Hinze, Mitchell Hinze, Jeff Lawless, Loyd Moore, Stephen Orsak and Frank Theiler.

Friends may call from 5 - 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, 10412 Highway 6, (409) 925-3501.
