Funeral services for Mrs. Charlene Hattaway, 59, of Carthage were held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, July 31, 2014 at the Hawthorn Funeral Home Chapel in Carthage with Dr. Dale Reed and Rev. Steve Jackson officiating. Burial followed in Restland Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Hattaway passed away July 25 in Carthage. She was born Feb. 19, 1955 in Bellville, the daughter of Bobby Bruce and Shirley Jean Marek Plemons. She was raised in Carthage and graduated from Carthage High School in 1973. She attended Panola College and then went to work for the Panola County Probation Department. She retired after 24 years and began working for Lowes Services. Survivors include: parents, Bobby and Shirley Plemons of Carthage; son, Ryan Hattaway of Carthage; sisters, Marilyn Lowe of Carthage and Aimee Plemons of Plano; nephew, Shane Lowe of Carthage; other relatives and a host of friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Douglas Hattaway; sister, Barbara Leah Plemons; grandparents, Henry H. and Vida Rinn Marek of Industry, where she loved to visit; and a special cousin, Dr. James H. “Jamie” Marek.
