Funeral services for Lydia M. Witte, 89, of Bellville, Texas were held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 12, 1997 from the Knesek Bros./Etlinger Funeral Chapel in Bellville with Rev. Ann Dwelle Ward officiating. Pallbearers for the service were John R. Mikeska III, Danny Jacob, John Christopher (Chris) Mikeska, Jason Jacob, Glenn Gore and Robert Mahnke.
Born April 22, 1908 in the Coshatte Community, Lydia Minna Carolina Mahnke was the daughter of Henry and Emma (Grube) Mahnke. She was raised in the Coshatte Community and attended the Piney and Coshatte schools. January 2, 1929, the former Miss Mahnke and Mr. Arthur Witte were united in marriage in Bellville. Mrs. Witte was a homemaker and worked many years on the farm with her husband. Lydia was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Bellville. Lydia M. Witte died Monday, November 10, 1997 in Bellville. She is survived by her daughter, Reva Nell Gore of Bellville; grandchildren, Dana and John Mikeska III. Donna and Danny Jacob, Glenn and Stacey Gore; great grandchildren, Chris, Kaci and Allison Mikeska, Jason Jacob and Mitchell and Cameron Gore; sisters-in-law Louella Kirkpatrick and Della Musick; numerous nieces and nephews; and her friend and neighbor, Mrs. Trude Asaf of Bellville. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Emma Mahnke, and her husband Arthur Witte. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. John Lutheran Church Scholarship fund, the Pilot Club "Life Line", or a charity of your choice.
