To the Times:
Arnold Sens, aged 31 years, 9 months and 15 days, died at the Sealy hospital on Wednesday morning, August 21, 1935 at 9:41 and funeral services were held from the family home on Friday at 3:30 p.m. The untimely death of this well liked splendid young man plunged not only the immediate community, but the entire territory into deep sorrow and bereavement. He was widely known and numbered his friends by his acquaintances. Mr. Sens had only been ill about a week, during which time his relatives, friends and doctors did all in their power to aid him, two specialists and a special nurse being also ordered from Houston, but nothing could be done. The Father called him to his eternal resting place, where he will not know pain, sorrow and hardships. Mr. Sens was born November 6, 1903, at Peters, at the place he has made his home since his marriage, until his death. For a number of years, he lived in the Cleveland community, where his parents now reside. He was married to Miss Minnie Lee Liermann of Bernardo on October 28, 1925 at the Mentz Catholic Church. Mr. Sens is survived by his grief-stricken wife, two children, Mary Ruth, aged 8, and Arnold Jr., aged 6, his parents, Mr. And Mrs. Fritz Sens, and two brothers, Edwin and Arthur, all of Cleveland, and his parents-in-law Mr. and Mrs. Jake Liermann of Bernardo; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Fritz Strauss of Cat Springs (sic), four nieces and three nephews, besides a host of relatives and friends. Decedent was a member of the Cleveland Baseball club for a number of years. His undying energy and spirit never allowed him to give up, sand he will be greatly missed by his teammates. He was a man who was always greatly interested in sports of all kinds. Baseball, football, hunting and fishing and many other minor sports occupied a great deal of his time, and it was through these that he made many everlasting friends. Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. A. E. Hughes of Meyers Memorial church of Sealy. The Sealy Choral Club rendered beautiful songs at the home and at his grave. Pallbearers were six members of the Cleveland-Peters baseball team of which the deceased was a valued member at the time of his death. They were Tim Balke and Acie Viereck of Peters, Edwin Kabell, Bill Findeisen, Lester Ashorn and Luke Michaelis of Cleveland. Posted by Dennis Boatright |
