The Earthly Walk of Dorothy Lee Hein

Dorothy Lee Hein, 92, of Wallis, went to be with her Lord, on January 27, 2023, in Sealy, Texas.

Dorothy was born in Sealy, Texas, on January 30, 1930. She was brought to baptism by her parents and later confirmed her faith at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sealy. She graduated from Sealy High School in 1946.

Dorothy married her life’s partner of 66 years, Willie Fred Hein, on November 17, 1946, at Trinity Lutheran Church. They made their home in Wallis, Texas, where they joined St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and raised their three children, twin girls Marilyn and Carolyn, and son Willie Fred Jr.

Dorothy used her gift of music to honor her Lord by playing the organ at Trinity Lutheran Church and St. Paul’s Lutheran Church for over 60 years. Dorothy was also known for her excellent cooking and baking. Her Italian Cream Cake was a sought-after favorite at all the church bar-b-ques.

Dorothy’s joy was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved caring for them, supporting them in their many activities, and passing down her cooking and baking skills.

Dorothy is survived by her daughter Marilyn Standlee and husband Stan of Sealy, son Willie Fred Hein, Jr. and wife Gladys of Sealy, and son-in-law Dale Toellner and wife Susie of East Bernard; grandchildren Melissa and James Thompson of Richmond and Keith and Audrey Standlee of Round Rock; and great-grandchildren Zoe, Lexi, and Isaac Thompson of Richmond and Lincoln and Eleanor Standlee of Round Rock.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Fred Hein; her parents, Charles and Gertrude Ludwig; her sister Bernetta Kunkel; and her daughter Carolyn Toellner.

Dorothy’s family would like to recognize and thank the staff at Veranda House Sealy for their compassionate care of her.

Dorothy Lee Hein has departed this life and joined the Church Triumphant to be raised on the Day of the Resurrection of All Flesh.
