Obituary
2023
Lindsay Joanna Zalesak passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Sunday, January 29, 2023.

Lindsay was born on April 2, 1990, the first child of Lori and Randy Zalesak. She was baptized into the Catholic Church on June 17, 1990. She was a bright and extremely hard-working student. She attended Holy Rosary Catholic School and Nolan Catholic High School, graduating in the top 10% of her class. She attained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Kinesiology with a minor in Psychology at Texas A&M University in 2012. She graduated from UT Southwestern School of Medical Professions with a Doctor of Physical Therapy in 2015. She worked at Momentum Physical Therapy in San Antonio for 5 ½ years as a caring and compassionate physical therapist. Lindsay was working under her mentor Sylvia Davila to become a certified hand therapist, a passion of hers.

In July of 2020, she became suddenly ill and was diagnosed with (PSC) Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis of the liver. Shortly thereafter, she was found to have aggressive Bile Duct Cancer and underwent a Whipple Procedure, followed by radiation and chemotherapy for eight months. Lindsay was in remission until July 2022. She required chemotherapy again until November 2022. Lindsay’s PSC progressed rapidly, and she was hospitalized twice in December with sepsis. She went on hospice later that month at her Memaw’s house.

Lindsay loved visiting family often from an early age, especially for holidays at her grandparents, and went on many family vacations. Lindsay’s favorite places to travel included Big Bend National Park and the beach, as well as going on Caribbean cruises. Other places Lindsay enjoyed were the Grand Canyon, Mount Rushmore, Disney World, White Sands National Park, and Costa Rica. Lindsay also liked entertaining friends by hosting pool, Christmas, and Halloween parties. She loved carving intricate pumpkins and grilling out by the pool. When not traveling or hosting parties, Lindsay enjoyed many outdoor activities, including hiking, fishing, biking, kayaking, and hunting. Lindsay also loved watching football and baseball games, with her favorite teams being the Aggies, the Cowboys, and the Rangers. Her favorite activities with her brother Stephen were hiking, going to Six Flags, and playing video games, with their favorite game being Skyrim.

She is survived by parents, Lori and Randy Zalesak of Arlington, Texas; brother Stephen Zalesak of Bryan; Memaw JoAnn Kocurek Marek of Wallis, Aunt Carol and Uncle Don Racz of Richmond; Uncle Gary of Wallis, Aunt Cheryl Kocurek of Wallis; cousins Christopher Racz, Johnathon Racz, Michael Racz, Connie Gallaway, Rachel Kmiec, Kelly Woodall, and many other family members.
