Jennie Franz Grisbee was born on Sept. 3, 1914 in Houston to Anna and Peter Franz. She attended the Katy Schools and Draughns Business School in Houston, becoming a bookkeeper for William Volker Co. On March 26, 1935, she married Sidney Allen Grisbee in Addicks and eventually settled in Katy, operating a dairy farm, raising cattle, and farming rice. She passed away Sept. 22, 2014 in Columbus, Texas at the age of 100 years. Survivors include her children Victor Grisbee and wife Carolyn of Cat Spring, Texas; Carol Ainsworth and husband Jim of Cat Spring; and grandchildren Shelly Bracher and husband Alan of Pasadena; Scott Ainsworth and wife Lisa of Pearland; Dwayne Grisbee and wife Christine of Cypress; and Dara Hegar and husband Glenn of Katy. Also surviving are 10 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Anna and Peter Franz, her husband Sidney Grisbee, and sister Earline Kutschbach. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 25, 2014 at the Memorial Lutheran Church, in Katy, with Pastor John F. Davis, Jr. and Pastor Dale Leland officiating. Burial was private. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial gifts be made to the Sidney Grisbee Scholarship Fund, Memorial Lutheran Church, 5810 Third Street, Katy, TX 77493.
