Bellville Times

Charles Edwin Fenner, M. D., "Doc" age 83, went to be with the Lord Friday, January 30, 2015, at his home in Houston, Texas. “Doc” was a part time resident of New Ulm for 48 years. He spent many of his happiest days on the ranch.

“Chuck” was born April 1, 1931, in Edna, Texas, to William Bell Fenner and Lola Myers Fenner. A graduate of Lamar High School in Houston, Texas, Chuck earned his baccalaureate degree from Texas A&M University, Class of 1954, where he was a member of the Corps of Cadets, serving as an officer of the acclaimed Ross Volunteers, Commanding Officer of Squadron 11, Class Treasurer, member of the Student Senate and member of the Welcoming Committee.

Chuck attended medical school at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas, and completed his residency in dermatology at the Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan, then served as Captain in the United States Air Force. He opened his medical practice in 1965 in Houston, and practiced dermatology for 38 years.

Chuck loved God, his family, his friends and patients, the ranch, and Texas A&M. He loved for family and friends to come to the ranch and especially enjoyed driving the grandchildren around in the pickup truck. His unfailing sense of humor will be greatly missed. To know Chuck for even one day was to love him, as evidenced by numerous messages received in the past few days. He was a beloved father figure to many.

Preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Delores Walthall, Chuck is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 60 years, Camilla Cloud Fenner; daughters, Libby Fenner Foster and husband Douglas Charles Foster, of Austin, Texas, and Laurie Fenner Reese and husband Brian William Reese, of Houston; sons, Charles Edwin (“Chip”) Fenner, Jr., and wife Sandra Lindley Fenner, of Katy, Texas, and Chet Allan Fenner and wife Molly McCracken Fenner, of Cypress, Texas; grandchildren, Rachel Fenner Guevara and her husband Richard Guevara, Rene Fenner, Regina Fenner, Will Lasner, Zack Lasner, Douglas Foster, Victoria Foster, Camille Reese, Charlie Fenner, Bridget Fenner; great grandson Gabriel Guevara; brother, William B. Fenner, Jr., and wife Margie Fenner; sister, Lola Annette Hains; numerous nieces and nephews, and beloved ranch manager, Luis Garay.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, February 6, 2015, at Chapelwood United Methodist Church, 11140 Greenbay, Houston, Texas 77024, followed by a reception at the church. Interment will be at 3:00 p.m. at the Fenner family cemetery, 7691 Hoppe Sister Road, New Ulm, Texas 78950. All are invited to join the family at the ranch house for refreshments. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any donations be made to Star of Hope, 6897 Ardmore, Houston, Texas 77054, or to the charity of your choice
