Obituary
2023
Joe was born October 4, 1958, at 2:44 am at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Houston, Texas. Joe left this life and entered into Glory on Friday, March 31st, 2023. He elected to pass at his Thaxton Place home in southeast Austin after a courageous battle with liver disease under the tender and supportive care of family and Hospice Austin.

Joe had a passion for music, as he played the clarinet as a young man. He graduated from Houston’s Spring Branch High School in 1978 and shortly after graduating, endeavored to join the US Marine Corps, and was discharged with honorable conditions. Later, Joe attended Nursing School in Austin, Texas. In 1995, Joe began working for Sam’s Club Austin as a greeter and did so for 25 years. He then joined the team at Andy Frain Security Services in late 2021 where he was an agent stationed at Q2 Stadium, Moody Center, and AT&T Stadium in Arlington. He was an avid movie goer and DVD Collector—some of his favorite genres were Sci-Fi and Westerns. He also enjoyed family get-togethers.

Joe was preceded in death by his mother, Carmen (Saenz) de los Santos, his father, Enrique "Henry" de los Santos, his oldest brother, George "Pilar" de los Santos, and his second oldest brother, Victor de los Santos. Joe held close his roommate Aaron Benavides and Andy Frain Security Services “Brotherhood” and friends, Emanuel Gomez, Javier Estrada, and Kai Concepcion.

Joe was a friend and brother to all that knew him. Joe is most known for his tight hugs, kindness, and willingness to always listen. He always had a beautiful smile that could outshine any darkness and a witty word from the heart for all he met. There are no words for how much Joe will be missed by all who knew him.

In lieu of flower spreads, plants will be cherished by his sister Cyndi de los Santos.
